About the Department

The Commerce Department determined to become outstanding in offering Commerce Education courses (B.Com) in India for students to inculcate the fundamentals of Business, Commerce, Banking and Finance to cater the dynamic needs of the business world by generating professional in the field of commerce.

The Department was started in the year 1983 with B.Com (General) and in 1995 the department offered B. Com (Honours) under the University of Burdwan. With the initiative to encourage the first generation learner to cram the concept of commerce, management and accounting and apply the same concept in the real field of overall and personal development and move toward the new avenues of life with confidence. The department with the support of the institute provides an opportunity for those deprived class of people who live in the rural areas of Birbhum District and who can’t go beyond the Birbhum for economic, family and communication related reasons for further and higher studies.

  • Shaping youths into competent human resources suitable for all economic sectors of the society. 
  • Our vision is to educate and train innovative and competent human resource globally suitable for industry, business and service sector and to equip and encourage them to start their own ventures.

Mission:

  • To accentuate quality education with a strong the foundation of business and commerce concepts for students to excel and enhance analytical skills essential in the field of commerce.
  • To establish an industry-academia interface for generating futuristic opportunities for the students in diverse areas of finance, commerce, and banking.
  • To create academic excellence to nurture accounting skills, team spirit, leadership qualities, in ace professionals to meet the challenges of the business world.
  • To accelerate the advanced learning process using state-of-the-art facilities following the syllabi of Burdwan University.
  • To inculcate value education and need based training among students.
  • To motivate the students from learning to earning.

Departmental Activity:

The department conducted awareness program on World Consumer Rights Day (15 March, 2024) within the campus for the students and staffs and outside of the campus for the awareness of local people.

The faculties of the department also provide special lecture on other social program or special camp.
