ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT

Chandidas Mahavidyalaya was established in 1972. Sanskrit as a subject was introduced in that year. Later in 2005 Sanskrit Honours was introduced. Currently the Department offers Sanskrit Honours and General courses under new CBCS curriculum of 2017-18. The Department has a staff strength of five faculties. Among the five faculty members, one members has been awarded with Ph.D. Degree, and three faculty members are pursuing their Doctoral Research. Faculty members regularly attend seminars, present research papers in national and international seminars and publish their papers in peer reviewed books and journals. The department is regularly engaged in serious academic exercises like invited lectures, seminars, showing documentaries and films, taking students to lectures by eminent scholars, educational trips etc. From the very beginning the students proved their worth by satisfactory results in the university examinations. Overall, a healthy academic environment and a cordial teacher student relation is maintained in the Department.
