About the Department:

Physics is a fundamental discipline of science concerned with the study of matter's nature, properties, composition, and interaction. Physics is divided into three branches: mechanics, electrostatics, light, thermodynamics, electronics, and quantum mechanics. Today's scientific world, however, requires scientists to think across disciplines. Our department was founded in 2001. Since then, the department has been providing a three-year Physics general degree course through the University of Burdwan. Over the years, the department has produced many successful students, many of whom have gone on to careers in industries such as education, transportation, and banking. The department is dedicated to providing students with a high-quality education that will prepare them for a successful career.

• To enhance Scientific Literacy through quality education for future students and to build an environment to create and propagate innovative technology for the economic development of the Nation.
• To flourish for the truth of nature in terms of agreements of theory with practice and stand firm even if ideas fail till new notions are formed.

Mission:

• The Department of Physics is committed to excellence in the education of its undergraduate and graduate students in core and applied physics topics, as well as related areas that encompass understanding of physical concepts. Applied physics provides the bridge between theoretical, fundamental physical concepts and their practical, engineering applications.
• The Department of Physics is committed to the generation and dissemination of new scientific knowledge involving physical principles and their applications to related interdisciplinary fields. The faculty and students in the Department of Physics are cooperatively contributing to the advancement of scientific knowledge at the frontiers of human understanding in the sciences in general and physics in particular.
• The Department of Physics is committed to serving the College, the surrounding local and the larger national community. Internally, faculty and students of the Department are providing leadership and participation in department and college governance.
